Method to the Madness

December 13th 2011

Artworks presented in exhibition spaces often do not invite audience participation. The works are presented as completed objects, in and of themselves. As such, the audience assumes the role of casual observer when viewing these artworks - outside the artistic process, rather than integral to it. In Method to the Madness, Cuadro attempts to alter this paradigm. Alongside the completed works sit peripheral materials typically found in an artist's studio that unveil the process of artistic choice and the evolutionary nature of the creation of art. Introducing these materials into the gallery setting initiates a more interactive dialogue as viewers are invited to step into the mind of the artist and experience the work through the choices taken to make the art.
